TradingView to MT5: turn TradingView alerts into MetaTrader 5 trades
You built a strategy or an indicator on TradingView, the alerts fire, and then you still have to place every trade in MetaTrader 5 by hand. Algo Connector closes that gap: each alert goes to your own private webhook URL, and the connector EA running in your MT5 terminal places the order for you.
How the TradingView to MT5 bridge works
When you sign up on the Forex app you get a personal webhook URL. You paste it into the Webhook URL box of any TradingView alert. When the alert fires, TradingView sends its message to that URL, our server checks it and queues the trade, and the Algo Connector EA attached to a chart in your MT5 terminal picks the trade up and sends it to your broker.
The EA checks for new commands several times a second, so there is no manual step between the alert and the order. Because the order is placed by your own terminal, it goes to your own broker account under your broker's normal conditions. Algo Connector never holds your money.
What an alert message can do
The alert message can be plain text or JSON. A plain-text message reads like a trade instruction, for example:
BUY XAUUSD 0.1 SL 2310 TP 2350- Open a buy or sell at market, with the lot size from the message or your default
- Set stop-loss and take-profit as prices, or as distances in pips or points
- Close one symbol, close only buys or only sells on it, or close everything
- Handle TradingView strategy alerts that flip from long to short: the old position is closed first, then the new one opened
- Accept TradingView's own placeholders such as {{ticker}}, with exchange prefixes like OANDA: removed automatically
Safety checks before any order
A webhook URL is only useful if a stray or repeated alert can't empty your account. Every alert passes these checks before it reaches MT5:
- An optional passphrase that must be in the message
- An optional allow-list so only TradingView's own servers are accepted
- A limit of 30 alerts a minute, and duplicates within 60 seconds are ignored
- An allowed-symbols list and a maximum lot size per trade
- A target MT5 login, so an alert can only trade the account you meant
- Test mode, plus a “Send test alert” button, so you can watch the full path without placing a real order
Broker symbols just work
Brokers often add suffixes to symbol names, such as XAUUSDm or EURUSD.pro. The connector EA matches the TradingView symbol to your broker's version automatically, so the same alert can drive accounts at different brokers.
Who it's for
Traders who already have a TradingView strategy or indicator they trust and want it executed on MT5 without sitting at the screen, and traders who run the same alerts on more than one MT5 account. If you don't have a strategy yet, see the MT5 copy trading and Telegram signal copier pages instead.
How to set it up
- Sign up on the Forex app and connect your MT5 account with the connector EA (allow WebRequest for the site, then attach the EA to one chart)
- Copy your private webhook URL and, if you like, set a passphrase, allowed symbols and a maximum lot size
- In TradingView, create an alert, paste the webhook URL and write the alert message
- Turn on test mode and send a test alert to check the whole path
- Switch test mode off when you're happy, and keep the MT5 terminal running

Frequently asked questions
Does my MT5 terminal need to stay on?
Yes. Orders are placed by the connector EA inside your MT5 terminal, so the terminal must be running and logged in when an alert fires. Many traders run it on a VPS so it stays on around the clock.
Do I need a paid TradingView plan?
TradingView only sends webhook alerts on its paid plans. Check TradingView's current plans before you start.
Can an alert change the stop-loss of an open trade?
No. Alerts can open trades with a stop-loss and take-profit, and close trades, but they cannot modify an open position or close part of it.
What happens if the same alert arrives twice?
An identical alert received within 60 seconds is ignored, and there is a limit of 30 alerts a minute, so a repeating alert can't flood your account with orders.
Is the TradingView to MT5 bridge free?
It is a paid service on the Forex app. Sign up or book a free demo to see the current plans.
Will my TradingView strategy be profitable on MT5?
The bridge only executes the alerts your strategy sends. Results depend on the strategy, the market, your broker's spreads and slippage. Trading involves risk of loss.
